Umag
Umag is a town in Istria, with about 13.000 inhabitants. Located in the westernmost tip of Croatia, close to Slovenian border, it is a well-known tourist resort. There is accommodation for everyone’s taste – from camps and apartments to five-star hotels, as well as a developed nightlife and events throughout the year. The beaches of its 45-kilometer (28-mile) coastline are the cleanest in Istria, while the hinterland is known for its beautiful nature and historical forts. The fertile land yields high-quality wine and olive oil, which also contribute to tourism. Umag is also known for the ATP Croatia Open tournament, attracting some of the largest names of the tennis world each year, and Umagination, the famous electronic music festival. If you are interested in culture, visit the local museum, with the collections dating from Roman times on, or some interesting art galleries.
